Purchasing new flooring is exciting. In order to properly prepare for the installation of your new flooring purchase, we've detailed some important information to make the process easier for you.
Preparation is the key. We want you to be informed and as prepared as possible for the installation of your new floors. It will make the entire process easier for you and your home, and proper preparation ensures efficiency for our installer. When it's all finished, you’ll be able to enjoy your floor covering for years to come.
Furniture removal is the first step as you prepare for installation. Remove all furniture and any other objects or materials from the area where the installation will take place. Arrangements can be made to have our installers move your furniture. Please note that additional charges will apply.
You'll also need to empty the contents from closets in the space and remove any other clutter. If our installers will be moving your furniture, you are responsible to empty all cabinets, drawers, etc. prior to their arrival.
Be aware that the
area of installation should be climate controlled (air conditioned or heated). Indoor humidity should be maintained between 45% - 65%.
Make sure you have planned for your doors. When your new floor is installed, the possibility exists that the doors - especially closet, bedroom, and basement doors - may not clear the new floor and swing freely.
Our installers will remove doors in order to install the new floor and re-hang them, if possible. They won't shave or cut down doors to ensure proper clearance. Please check with us about this policy and any additional cost. You may need to arrange for a qualified carpenter to provide this service after the installation of your new floor.
Be clear about the clean-up. Installing new flooring will produce waste. In most cases, these materials are collected by our installer and disposed of at our warehouse. Check with us before the day of installation if you have any questions about the clean-up and if there are added costs associated with flooring waste removal.
Know in advance that flooring installation can be messy. Our installers will clean up after themselves, pick up installation materials and tools, and dispose of trash. Please understand that restoring your home to its previous state will be your responsibility.
Expect your home to require a small amount of vacuuming, mopping, dusting, etc. or even touch up paint in some areas when our installers leave.
If you need remnants of your new flooring, please make arrangements prior to your installation.
